Genre 1: Poster
For the poster, I want to get the younger audience not exposed to the idea of the professional eSports scene to start playing and practicing eSports with the prospects of possibly making it big and making a living off of playing video games. The reason for going for using a poster is that posters can be distributed and can be shown anywhere so there can be many instances where these young kids can be exposed to these posters. Since the audience is mostly young kids between 9 to 13 years old; I want the wording to be as simple as possible so they’ll be able to understand it easier. I also made the earnings from the events I’m mentioning in a different color and in a bigger font to make it stand out more as I believe that children in these ages should have a sense of idea of what money is. I also made the background of both the figures to be $100 bills to catch their attention even more. This results in something that looks a little corny due to the hundred dollar bills being the background of the poster. All of this is for the sole purpose of attracting the eyes of young children. I want to let these kids know that there are nontraditional options in how they can live their lives as an adult by showing them the option of becoming a professional player. The significance of eSports to young kids is that they tend to enjoy playing video games rather than doing actual work and by showing that they can play video games for a living, to let them pursue what they’re passionate about.
Genre 2: Political Cartoon
For the political cartoon, I want the audience to be mostly gender equality activists as this cartoon caters to their views. The purpose for going for the genre of a political cartoon is that the overall message of what I’m trying to deliver will fit well in this genre as gender inequality is a big issue in our lives currently as men and women aren’t treated equally. In professional eSports, there is a lack of women in the scene. With this cartoon, I first want to show that women are active in the eSports community, in the form of female fans watching or being at professional games, women who cosplay characters in the game, and women who play the game itself. For the fourth slide, I want to show that in the professional scene; that there is not that many women on the scene by showing an error that the image doesn’t exist; showing the lack of women in the professional scene. The significance of the overall meaning of this cartoon towards gender equality activists is that this is what they’re trying to get rid of; to make men and women equal. The choices in making this cartoon is to show that although there are women in the community,
